Music at Christ Church centers on providing the
proper setting for the liturgy. Our liturgy and music partake of the
breadth of the Anglican tradition, and as we maintain the continuity of this
church's rich musical heritage we strive to provide a program that is meaningful
to all generations. Therefore one will find the glorious masterpieces of
Tallis and Byrd happily coexisting with music from more recent traditions such
as "Seek Ye First."
- Parish Choir - The
adult choir of the parish sings at the "Choral"
service each
Sunday, September through June. We also add our voices to special
events such as Lessons & Carols and the Great Vigil of Easter.
There is a wide variety of repertoire and ability. While we welcome
all, we place emphasis on a strong commitment to attendance at rehearsals
and services. Ages in the group range from high school to older adults
with a broad range in between. Come to one of our rehearsals! We
rehearse on Thursday evenings from 8 - 10 p.m. in the music room. Past
choral experience or musical training is not necessary, as long as you can
carry a tune!
- Recorder Consort - This ensemble rehearses bi-weekly at the home of
Christine Bate. There are currently five players with bass, tenor,
alto, and soprano recorders represented. Contact Loretta Reid for more
information. New players of early instruments are always welcome.
The schedule of rehearsals is in the Calendar of
Events.
